Pâte-de-verre, literally means
“paste of glass”, is an ancient glass-forming technique, first documented in
artifacts from Phoenicia and Egypt around 1500 B.C.E. Small granules, or frits, and powders are mixed with binders, pressed into the desired
shape, and fired in a kiln to fuse the granules together.
The Falling Leaves
series are multi-part installations where the various elements interact,
resulting both tension and bonding. The particular arrangement of elements
can change radically from one installation to the next, resulting in a range
of compositions. The work is site-specific, so individual parts become the
basis for a dialogue rather than a single fixed piece.
