Mark Leibowitz is a TerraPass Member

Surrounded, as we are by contemporary fine art, we sadly overlook the processes of art-making that contribute to our natural environment. Mark Leibowitz does not.

Since my first meeting with Mark, he’s referred to his interest in the environment and its preservation. Today, we learn that TerraPass, a sponsor of clean energy and carbon reduction projects that result in verified, measurable reduction in carbon emissions, awarded Mark Leibowitz and his company, Mark Leibowitz Photography, Inc., its White Badge for reducing up to 200 metric tons of carbon emissions in the current year.
Mark Leibowitz, through his company, Mark Leibowitz Photography, Inc. practices and creatively develops sustainable photography services for advertising, commercial and private clients. Their photographs are a blend of portrait, fashion, lifestyle and travel images from around the world. They strive to create images that capture the emotions and experiences of our subjects while resonating with their audience and enriching the human experience.

Donata Benker featured at AAF LA 2012

Susan Longini public sculpture included on Fremont City map

Micaela Gallery + Projects (MG+P) artist, Susan Longini, has long been an active member of the San Francisco South Bay art community. As an educator, civic member and artist, she contributed as a teacher, volunteer, and public art sculptor.

Micaela Gallery + Projects (MG+P) presents "PROJECT 1:2012," a group exhibition. The exhibition will be on view January 18–22, 2012 at the Affordable Arts Fair’s Los Angeles inauguration. Opening Reception will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 5 to 7.30 pm.

For its inaugural exhibition at the AFFORDABLE ART FAIR LA 2011, Micaëla Gallery + Projects presents Donata Benker, Peter Foucault, Philip Alden Benn, Sidnea D’Amico, Marie-Lou Desmeules, Kathleen Elliot, Scott Kildall, Michelle Knox, Mark Leibowitz, Susan Longini, Lorraine Peltz, Kevin J. Pocock and Lucky Rapp.

This short exhibition documents an emerging movement, where some of today's most ambitious artists mix and cross-reference mediums and materials. "Hailing from different backgrounds, professional experiences and practices, the thirteen represented artists embody a pluralistic, multiple-directional approach to art-making that is as simultaneous as it is timely," states Micaela van Zwoll, MG+P’s director.

"As a curatorial concept, pluralism is nothing new, and in the past recent years, artists have embraced it to a degree in which it becomes an important aspect of the visual dialogue," she continues. "In a sense, it is a highly intuitive interdisciplinary process that embraces and reacts with a world saturated with concepts, mediums, and an assortment of visuals, where images are tagged, tweeted about and uploaded to Tumblr in an instant. Like many of us, artists make use of personal visual enrichment as source material for their work, which may include anything from personal history, their environment, found material, and even the internet (as a place to connect with their peers and as an exhibition space for their work). In many cases, the 21st century artist presents an endless library of their visual dialogue, where one could borrow an image, do something with it, retweet and repeat."

Firmly planted in the 21st century, our gallery program embraces an enriched vernacular provided by contemporary fine art approaches to drawing, painting, and sculpture. Exhibitions include addressing ideas, social perceptions and light, sculpture, and video. Micaëla Gallery + Projects presents artworks that are as beautiful to regard as they are engaging.

"PROJECT 1:2012" is the first of this year’s project-based exhibitions for MG+P. The second project and exhibition, "The Turning Point," opens for viewing April 24, 2012 online at Micaela Gallery + Projects at micaela.com.
