1. Submit your work by postal mail or via email only. Please do not submit your work in person. Our postal mailing address and email addresses are provided below.
2. Please submit digital images of proposed work. Slides or original artwork will not be reviewed. When submitting images, please provide recent and current samples of 5-10 images of available work. Each image must labeled with your name and the details of the work (dimensions, medium, year, artist's price). Your images should be of impeccable quality since our initial judgment of your work will be based upon whatever we see in your portfolio. (If we accept your work for display at Micaëla Gallery, you will need to provide a professional quality image for each work we consign.)
Please do not send original slides and please do not include any original artwork. Micaëla Gallery does not take responsibility for any materials.
3. Include a resume/biography (include all exhibitions - solo/group/museum - relevant press information, reviews, etc.), cover letter, and statement about your work. Please include galleries that represent your work and catalogues of previous exhibitions.
4. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) for the return of your materials (Note: if there is no SASE included, Micaela Gallery does not take responsibility for shipping any submissions back to the artist. After 1 month, unclaimed packages will be discarded.).
Artists' submissions will be reviewed by a committee, not by one person. Please address your submissions to: COLD+HOT 2009 Glass Sculpture Exhibition Review.
5. The gallery committee will review the portfolio and answer in writing, within 2-3 weeks from the date of submission.
Work is assessed for concept, originality, quality and potential to enhance the collection exhibited by the gallery. Our artists vary widely in terms of age, education and experience. Some Micaëla Gallery artists have advanced degrees, others are self-taught. We strongly prefer to represent artists who have had exhibitions in several different venues and received critical acclaim for their work; but many of our artists are showing in a gallery for the very first time.
Micaëla Gallery is a privately owned, commercial gallery showing the work of local and international emerging and mid-career artists. Most of our artists reside within the San Francisco Bay Area although we are collecting work from artists residing throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as well.
Micaëla Gallery, a member of the Glass Art Society, has become an important American venue for collectors of glass sculpture. Micaëla Gallery is a regular exhibitor at SOFA Chicago (2007 and 2008) and other art fairs, such as Art Now Fair, Miami 2007, Bridge New York 2008, and and Bridge Miami Beach 2008. Newly located at 49 Geary Street, No. 234 (a block away from San Francisco's Union Square), the gallery is open from 10.30 to 6 Tuesday through Saturday, and by appointment on Sunday and Monday.
